Magnesium-Stabilized Zirconia (Mg-PSZ) Ceramic Crucibles | High-Temperature Crucibles for Superalloy & Reactive Metal Melting
Magnesium-Stabilized Zirconia crucibles
,High-temperature ceramic crucibles for superalloy
,Mg-PSZ crucibles for reactive metal melting
Magnesium-Stabilized Zirconia (Mg-PSZ) crucibles represent a specialized class of advanced ceramic containers engineered for the most extreme high-temperature and chemically aggressive environments. Unlike yttria-stabilized variants, Mg-PSZ crucibles utilize magnesium oxide (MgO) as the stabilizing agent—typically 2.9-3.5%—to maintain the zirconia in a partially stabilized state that delivers exceptional thermal shock resistance and mechanical toughness .
With a distinctive yellow appearance, these crucibles are designed for continuous operation at 2000-2200°C in air, vacuum, or protective atmospheres, making them the preferred choice for melting superalloys, reactive metals, and precious metals where contamination cannot be tolerated .
Key Applications:
-
Superalloy Melting: Vacuum induction melting (VIM) of nickel, cobalt, and iron-based superalloys
-
Reactive Metal Processing: Titanium, zirconium, hafnium, and their alloys
-
Precious Metal Refining: Gold, platinum, palladium, rhodium
-
Aerospace Alloy Development: High-temperature alloy research and production
-
Specialty Glass Manufacturing: High-temperature glass compositions
-
Advanced Material Research: Energy materials, rare earth processing
